Santa Special at Rudyard Lake Railway
Dates: 12/13/19/20 December
Experience the magic of the festive season aboard our themed train rides, complete with a joyful atmosphere perfect for all ages at Rudyard Lake Railway.
Santa will be visiting us again in 2026 at Rudyard Lake in Staffordshire.
Your experience starts at Rudyard station (where there is a free car park).
After checking-in you’ll board a specially-illuminated train for the 10-minute train ride to see Santa arriving by boat on the reservour!
Then after a brief train ride back to The Dam station you’ll alight and cross over the dam (approximately 80-metre walk) to visit Santa in his grotto. All children receive a soft drink, biscuit or a mince pie, a visit to Santa’s grotto and a present (present details will be requested when booking tickets). All adults can enjoy a sherry, mulled wine (or a soft drink), a mince pie (or biscuit) and a visit to Santa’s grotto.
When everyone has visited Santa, it’s back to the station for the steam ride back to Rudyard.
The train departs ten minutes after the start time on your ticket, and the experience lasts for approximately 60-90 minutes. The start time on your ticket is ten minutes before departure to give you plenty of time to get checked-in and seated before the train departs.
Regrettably we cannot hold the train if you are late, so please do leave plenty of time for your journey to the railway.
The cost of a ticket is £23.50 per guest for everyone aged one year and over. Under one year-olds are admitted for free (but you must order a free ticket) and receive a small gift. A seat is not allocated to under-ones, and they are expected to sit on laps.
Seating is in compartments of four and two. If you have more than four people (age over one) in your party we will allocate the appropriate number of compartments to your group.
Please note our miniature railway carriages are necessarily miniature – A double seat is approximately 82cm / 32 inches wide. The leg room between facing pairs of seats in a compartment of four is approximately 60cm / 32 inches, and 45cm / 18 inches in a compartment of two. A photo can be seen here: https://tickets.rlsr.org/pages/carriage-measurements
Compartments are exclusively allocated to families, there is no expectation to share a compartment with another family.
If you have made more than one booking for your party then please contact us with your order numbers after booking so that we can seat you adjacent to each other (where possible).
