PLATFORM 2 CAFE - GREAT FOOD at RUDYARD STATION


Platform 2 the cafe at Rudyard Station serves great food, hot and cold light refreshments as well as tea, coffee, cans, cakes, confectionary crisps etc.
Our specialities are freshly cooked to order bacon baps, hot dogs and beef burgers.
We also serve superb traditional scoop ice cream in cornets, tubs and wafers.
Children's Lunch boxes are available and great value (ham or cheese bap, crisps, biscuit, drink, treat) for £2.50
New for 2010 will be cream teas on Sundays from July. Pots of tea or coffee, scones, lots of fresh cream and jam!

All our fresh home made sandwich's use bread and spreads suitable for Vegan and vegetarian.
The cafe is a great place to sit, relax and watch the trains and people come and go. The relaxing atmosphere has been commented on by many customers.
A covered picnic area is available at Rudyard Station adjacent to Platform 2 and can be reserved without any charge for parties booking food at Platform 2. This is ideal with our Children's birthday party packages
We can also cater for groups by prior arrangement and have done weddings through to a Vegan rail picnic.
Platform 2 Opening Hours
The cafe is open 10.30am to 4pm at Rudyard Station at weekends to the end of October and on Wednesday's, Thursday & Friday July 28th to September 4th. Also open Wednesdays from June to September. Last hot food orders are 3.00pm


A rail picnic by the lake can be booked by the side of the lake at Hunthouse Wood Station
LOCATION
Platform 2 is the old full size railway platform at Rudyard Station. This was the Southbound platform and the original flower beds and wall from the 1840's are still in use.
The lake is 2.5 miles in length. The railway starts from Rudyard Station where there is a free car park. Its on Rudyard road, the B5331 one kilometre west from the junction of the A523 Leek to Macclesfield Trunk Road. watch out for the brown signs on the A523 which are about one kilometre North of Leek. The post code if you have a Sat Nav is ST13 8PF. This will take you onto Rudyard Road. The entrance to the station is right next to the old railway bridge. Take the ramp up into the car park
Access
There is level access to the cafe from Rudyard station car park via the level crossing. The car park is free.
The railway is the best way to see the lake especially if you have any mobility problems - see our disabled access webpage.
We offer learn to drive a steam engine courses and these are very highly regarded by everyone who has undertaken one and make a great gift.
